Important information concerning school closure!

Dear Lexington Two families:

Under the direction of South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, Lexington Two schools and administrative offices are closed, effective immediately, through the end of the month as a step to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).  The district will move toward use of our eLearning program, which will allow students to continue their lessons remotely.

Extracurricular activities, athletics practices and games, after-school and child care programs, adult education, field trips and all other events are canceled until further notice. There will be no staff or student travel during this time.

Here are other important details for families:

  • Parents are asked not to come to schools on Monday, March 16.

  • On Tuesday, March 17, parents will be able to come to schools during normal school hours, 8am-4pm, to pick up medications and other materials their child may need for an extended school closure. Parents of elementary students will receive additional information on Monday, March 16, about picking up K-2 choice board packets and iPads.

  • The first eLearning day for students is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18. As a reminder, there are eLearning resources posted on our district website, www.lex2.org, and you may receive additional information from your child’s school.

  • For families without internet access, we have heard about two opportunities at this point for free internet service for a limited time to help students affected by coronavirus school closures. The links: https://www.internetessentials.com/covid19 or through Spectrum, (844) 488-8395.

  • Please know that students will have ample time to turn in assignments for credit, and to be counted present, once they return to school. However, it is important for parents to emphasize to children the need to keep up with the work each day, or they will get too far behind. Students will have the opportunity to get all necessary work for promotion and/or graduation.

  • Students who have a Section 504 Accommodations Plan will receive accommodations as applicable.

  • Lexington Two also will provide meals during the coronavirus school closure to any child who needs one. On Monday, March 16, drive up for brown-bag lunches from 11am-1pm at Cayce Elementary, 515 Bulldog Blvd., Cayce. The meals program will be expanded to other sites as quickly as possible, so please watch for more information from our schools, websites and social media.

The safety of our students, families and employees is our top priority. We will have additional information to share in coming days, so please look for communications from your schools, websites and social media. This is uncharted territory for all of us -- students, families, teachers, staff, administrators -- and we will get through it all together.

Thank you.
